Aug 03, 2020

Congratulations to Amany Qaddour from one of IBP's Member Organizations, Syria Relief & Development, for the recent briefing at the UN Security Council on humanitarian health needs in Syria in the context COVID-19.

On July 29 2020, regional director Amany Qaddour of Syria Relief & Development briefed the UN Security Council alongside Mark Lowcock, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator. By invitation from Ambassador Christoph Heusgen of Germany, President of the Council, Amany spoke to the tremendous humanitarian health needs in Syria as COVID-19 cases rise. She gave particular focus to women and girls, as they have endured some of the most harrowing circumstances, including neglect of their health needs and continuous exposure to gender-based violence. The full briefing can be seen in this video.
